This report provides a snapshot of the characteristics of the trustees governing Southwest Pennsylvania's cultural organizations. Examined criteria include organization size, board size, board member crossover, gender, age, race, professional field/industry, major skills, and tenure.

This report is the first of an annual series that covers both the financial and operational data of nonproft cultural organizations in Southwest Pennsylvania. It examines measurements that reflect the most salient and significant features of small, mid-size and large cultural organizations in the Pittsburgh region. Areas of interest include sources of income; performance ratios, such as fundraising effectiveness; and trends across the four-year time period under study, 2001-2004. Findings from this report can be applied to strategic planning, policy-making, and marketing and development efforts.

This report provides an overview of Pittsburgh music venues, categorized by seating capacity. Both for-profit and not-for-profit are included in this survey, as are all three types of booking: corporate, independent agents, and in-house.
