Critical research and analysis on arts and culture in Southwest Pennsylvania
Principal Investigators:Dan J. Martin, Associate Professor/Director, Institute for the Management of Creative EnterprisesEdna Neivert, Executive Director, Arts and Culture Observatory
Studies indicate that success in the workforce requires many skills and competencies, only some of which can be taught through regular classroom instruction. Arts instruction may lead toward the improvement of affective skills. For example, performing in a music ensemble requires students to work as a team, accept responsibility, and interpret the directions of a leader. Creating a work of visual art requires students to manage resources, think creatively, and in many cases, solve problems.
